Ranthambore National Park

Ranthambore National Park is one of the largest and most celebrated parks in Northern India. Home to a stunning variety of wildlife, including tigers, leopards and sloth bears, the park is nestled between the Aravalli and Vindhya mountain ranges, sprawling over an area of 400 square kilometers. Steep crags embrace a network of lakes and rivers, and most areas are covered in deciduous forest.

Ranthambore is one of the prime examples of Project Tiger's conservation efforts. The park's forests were once the leading hunting grounds of the Maharajas of Jaipur, but due to steady pressure from environmentalists the park became government protected in 1955, and in 1972 a tiger reserve.
